Upon arrival at the airport in Lima, the capital of Peru, you will be met by a driver who will take you to your hotel in Miraflores. Miraflores is located in a lovely residential area next to the Pacific Ocean.
In the morning, a private bus will pick you up from your hotel and take you back to the airport in Lima, where you will take your flight to Cusco. (Note: the flight is not included). There will be a Back2Nature guide waiting to greet you in Cusco holding a sign with your group’s name. Your guide will give you details about your upcoming trip and itinerary and will accompany you with private transportation to your hotel, located in Cusco. The rest of the day, you will be free to relax as well as acclimatize to avoid altitude sickness.
To begin our journey, we will first visit the archaeological park of Sacsayhuaman. Sacsayhuaman holds a very important temple connected to lightning, which is considered sacred to the Incan people. Throughout the entirety of Sacsayhuaman we will explore many beautiful temples, and then continue to the Temple of the Moon for the opening ceremony which includes a powerful despacho offering for Pachamama (Mother Earth). The paqos (shaman priests) will lead the ceremony. Cusco’s Temple of the Moon is located on a large hill with two caves inside it. The caves contain altars, and cracks in the walls to let in sunlight or more significantly, moonlight that illuminates the altars on key celestial nights.
On Day 4, we will visit the powerful and beautiful site of Moray. The paqos will guide you in working with the new energies of these times (the Great Pachakuti) and help you to plant sacred seeds (mujus) for your spiritual development. The Great Pachakuti refers to an ancient Incan prophecy regarding the time when Earth/Space/Time (Pacha) will be renewed and harmony will return after a period of chaos.
On Day 5, our bus will take us to Ollantaytambo. Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachakuti who conquered the region, built the town and a ceremonial center. It also contains rock walls of tightly fitted blocks weighing up to 150 tons each. These were moved down a mountain and over a river canyon, 1000 ft high! It is one of the world’s greatest wonders and mysteries.
Here we will visit the main temples dedicated to a number of important Incan deities. Our guide will also explain the archaeological importance of these Incan sites. Later in the day, we’ll climb to the Temple of the Wind where the Q’ero paqos will offer a ceremony.
After the ceremony, we will go down to the town of Ollanta to take the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu)
Today, we will visit the world renowned archaeological site and sacred sanctuary, Machu Picchu. During the tour, we will visit some of the most exquisite examples of the Incan architecture to be found anywhere in Peru. Streets, squares, fountains, and ceremonial temples are surrounded by lush vegetation. The citadel is located at a height of 2490 meters (8169 ft). From here, you can view the sacred mountains (apus) like Wayna Picchu, Putukusi, and Inti Punku, as well. Machu Picchu also is known for its astronomical alignments and observatory. The Intihuatana Stone (Hitching Post of the Sun) has been shown to be a precise indicator of the date of the two equinoxes, the December Summer solstice and other significant celestial periods. To touch one’s forehead to it is said to bring many blessings and insights.
There is also an option to climb to the top of Wayna Picchu, while you are here. It is a steep hike, but well worth the effort if your physical condition can manage it. Wayna Picchu is a sacred feminine mountain that is a counterpart to the masculine, Machu Picchu. Wayna Picchu is also connected to the child aspect and youth, while Machu Picchu is connected to the ancestors and crystals.
Later in the afternoon, we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch and then take the train to Ollantaytambo where our bus will be waiting to pick up us before going on to Cusco.
On this day, we will depart from Cusco by private bus and drive to T’inki, which is the actual starting place of your pilgrimage through the sacred mountains.
We will travel over steep mountain slopes with green agricultural fields and terraces. Throughout this terrain, you will see many little villages with shepherds guiding their herds of lamas and alpacas.
Elevation at base camp: 4250 m (13,944 ft).
Apu Ausangate (the sacred mountain of Ausangate) is considered to be the most significant mountain for the Q’ero people. Another name for Apu Asungate is the “Lord of Manifestation” and it is also related to grounding and the sacred directions. Here we will work with the moon, the sun and the completion of the “Alchemical Wedding”. This marriage has not yet manifested itself in these times. We will be helping to bring in these new vibrations to Mother Earth (Pachamama). These vibrations are specifically related to the Rainbow Bridge that joins Heaven and Earth (or Hanaq Pacha to the Kay Pacha). They also help us walk the path of gratitude (ayni) and share our gifts with the world, as well as “walk our talk”.
Elevation at base camp: 4600 m (15,091 ft)
On Day 9, we will descend to the village of Pacchanta (at the base of Ausungate).
If there is enough time after our journey, we will be able to bathe in the healing hot springs in Pacchanta. So don’t forget your bathing suit! Your private transportation will then pick you up and take you to T’inki and then return to Cusco.
Day 10 will be a free day in which you can choose to explore Cusco, go shopping, see the sites, or relax.

Tour Leaders:
Note: Although carefully anchored in an energetic “template” as well as in detailed practical advance planning, this itinerary remains “subject to reality.” It is the nature of pilgrimage and apprenticeship that some things may change at the last minute. In our experience, the few changes that occurred on our previous journeys often opened the door to unforeseen (and usually wonderful) opportunities. Thank you in advance for your flexibility and willingness to adapt, to take advantage of the ever-changing possibilities inherent in a fluid shamanic universe!
